Air fryer hasselback tofu with sizzling garlic recipe

INGREDIENTS :

    • 300g pkt Coles Nature’s Kitchen Silken Tofu

    • 2 tbsp soy sauce

    • 60ml (¼ cup) peanut oil

    • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced

    • 2cm-piece fresh ginger, peeled, cut into matchsticks

    • 1 long fresh red chilli, thinly sliced diagonally

    • 1 green shallot, thinly sliced diagonally

    • Steamed white rice, to serve

Recipe Description

  1. Drain tofu and pat dry with a paper towel. Place 300g pkt Coles Nature’s Kitchen Silken Tofu on a chopping board. Position the handle of a wooden spoon along the longest side of the tofu. Repeat with another wooden spoon on the other side. Use a sharp knife to cut tofu into 8 slices, being careful not to cut all the way through the tofu (the spoons will help to prevent this).
  2. Carefully place tofu in an ovenproof dish (that fits in an air fryer) and drizzle over 2 tbsp soy sauce. Place in the air fryer and cook at 180C for 12 minutes or until heated through.
  3. Heat 60ml (¼ cup) peanut oil in a small frying pan over medium-high heat until just smoking. Add 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced and cook, stirring, for 1-2 minutes or until light golden.
  4. Top tofu with 2cm-piece fresh ginger, peeled, cut into matchsticks, 1 long fresh red chilli, thinly sliced diagonally and half the 1 green shallot, thinly sliced diagonally. Drizzle over hot garlic oil. Serve tofu topped with remaining shallot. Serve with Steamed white rice, to serve.
